Red Light Therapy
Unlock Your Body’s Natural Healing Potential at Ritual Acupuncture
At Ritual Acupuncture, we believe in empowering your body’s innate ability to heal and thrive. We are proud to offer advanced therapeutic modalities, including Red Light Therapy (RLT), to complement our acupuncture services and guide you toward lasting well-being.
Our clinic combines the wisdom of traditional acupuncture with cutting-edge technologies to address a diverse range of health concerns. Discover how our integrated approach can support your journey to better health.
Red Light Therapy (RLT), using therapeutic wavelengths in the red (630–660nm) and near-infrared (810–850nm) spectrum, is a non-invasive therapy shown to enhance mitochondrial function, increase ATP production, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and accelerate tissue repair—all critical components in managing chronic conditions and promoting optimal health.
RLT can be a powerful tool for:
- Fertility Support: RLT’s stimulation of mitochondrial energy production and microcirculation can enhance ovarian function and endometrial receptivity. A recent prospective case series demonstrated improved fertility outcomes and live birth rates using multiwavelength PBM in women with unexplained age-related infertility (Tamada et al., 2024).
- Chronic Pain Management: A randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled study showed significant reductions in pain intensity using RLT in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain (Shanb et al., 2021).
- Insomnia and Sleep Disturbances: A 2023 meta-analysis concluded that red and NIR light therapies improved subjective and objective sleep parameters, especially in patients with insomnia and circadian rhythm disruptions (Zhang et al., 2023).
- Autoimmune Support: RLT has been shown to downregulate pro-inflammatory macrophage phenotypes, supporting its potential role in managing autoimmune inflammation (Hamblin, 2017).
- Dermatological Conditions: A systematic review confirmed that LED-based RLT significantly improves acne vulgaris and other inflammatory dermatoses, with noted improvements in skin tone and healing (de Sousa et al., 2022).
- Recovery After Chemotherapy & Immunosuppressants: RLT is increasingly used to manage chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and improve wound healing due to its regenerative and neuroprotective effects (El-Tamawy et al., 2021).
RLT may be used as a standalone treatment or combined with acupuncture. Studies show laser acupuncture—a light-based stimulation of acupuncture points—can provide analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects similar to traditional needling, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions (Choi et al., 2014).
